A mobile service call by one of our CrimShield certified locksmith technicians, at a time scheduled that's convenient for you. Our technician will arrive at the job site in uniform, ready to complete your work order quickly and expertly. Our $79.99 Residential Rekey Special Package includes:

• A mobile service call to the job site specified on the work order
• Re-key up to 6 keyholes (deadbolts and keyed entry locks). Most homes usually have up to three exterior doors, including the door to the garage. These doors generally have a deadbolt and a keyed entry knob with a keyhole in each. Six keyholes is usually equal to three doors.
• 4 new copies of the new key at the time of service.

What exactly does it mean to "Re-key" a lock?

Put simply, re-keying a lock involves removing the locking mechanism from the door, replacing the internal parts so that no old keys work and that only the new key will lock and unlock the mechanism, then re-installing the locking mechanism on the door. The locks themselves are not "replaced"; they are internally reset with new components to only work with a new and different key code.

Why re-key instead of just installing new locks?

Re-keying a lock serves the same purpose as replacing a lock, to keep anyone with previous keys out of the property. The difference is that re-keying is very economical and cost effective, usually less than half the cost of replacing the locks yourself! As an added benefit, re-keying usually allows all of the locks to lock and unlock with the same key if desired!

• New home purchase – who knows who may have a key to your home?
• Desire to have all of the home's locks work (lock and unlock) with the same key
• Keys are lost or stolen – or previously loaned out to anyone (neighbor, friend, cleaning service, etc.)
